I f you are familiar with the official Alpha Chi Instagram page, you will know that they do a spotlight called "Why Alpha Chi Wednesday," where collegiate women across the country share why they love Alpha Chi. Can you remember why you love Alpha Chi? Was it the nights hanging out in Lincoln Lounge? Trips for study snacks to Squeegee? Late night heart-to-hearts with sisters who would be with you through thick and thin? No matter the reason, as Alpha Chis, the love does not end when we graduate and transition to the world of an alumna. Being an Alpha Chi Omega means a lifelong connection to those who were before us, with us, and after us. As alumnae, we have a certain responsibility to help those women who are now transitioning from an active sister to alumna sister. There are different ways that this can happen! The first one is to participate in the Hall of Commitment. Last spring the House Corporation Board took over the event so that it could become a bigger connector between the young women and alumnae. With this change, the Board is hoping to draw a bigger accumulation of sisters with whom the women can network. Please look for an e-mail as the date approaches for more information. Another option is to become a member of your local Alpha Chi alumnae group. In Nebraska there are groups for the Lincoln area and Omaha area. For those who have traveled beyond the Cornhusker State, there are groups in cities around the country that can help you become connected again. You can find the list of groups on the official Alpha Chi Omega webpage: www.alphachiomega.org/stay-connected/alumnae-chapters. We are hoping that more and more sisters will hear this call to come home and support our new alumnae through the Hall of Commitment or joining their local alumnae chapter. You can also like the Xi Chapter Alumni page on Facebook to stay current in chapter and alumnae news. Some remain rooted in our founding, like our colors and the Lyre, while others have been adopted as we've grown and progressed. These symbols and traditions represent who we are and what we value, providing a great source of meaning to our members, and creating a bond of sisterhood that connects through time and space. At Xi, we have the great fortune of multiple generations of women who continue to be committed to our chapter. Our annual Hall of Commitment is one of the most important rituals where we continue to build our bond with our sisters. On April 14 Xi will have the opportunity to watch the commitment of young women mature into alumna status of Alpha Chi Omega. The Hall of Commitment ceremony will be hosted at 4 p.m. and the location is pending. Please watch your email and the Alpha Chi Omega - Xi Chapter Alumnae Facebook page for confirmed details. Please consider joining us for this wonderful celebration of our sisters. It is an important opportunity to support them and at the same time reconnect with your Xi Chapter sisters and the many friends and alumnae that share our special bond. The Alpha Chi Omega Educational Corporation would also like to recognize chapter members who "sought the heights" for the fall 2018 semester. These women were honored on February 26 for their scholarship and leadership.
