Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Texas H Spring 2019 Founded in 1884 F rom our October newsletter to today, we've seen the Alpha Nu...A Tradition to Build Upon capital campaign reach new heights. We are incredibly thankful for all of you who have aided our efforts thus far— achieving more than $124,000 in donations in the past five months. Let's continue this momentum! We have a great team working on the new house project, including Trey Wattinger '78, Ed Eubanks '74, Chris McComb '90, and Lucian Morehead '94. ese brothers bring years of commercial construction experience and knowledge to this process. Together, we have the property at Nueces re- zoned and, with the permitting, we are approximately 90% finished with this work. Our general contractor, Zapalac/Reed Construction Co., has developed a preliminary construction pricing and value engineering plan. Our development team, along with Linden Welsch '69 (HC Treasurer), John Bibo '74 (HC President), and Jonathan Kaplan '12 (Chapter's RA), met with our general contractor in early March to review the budget and plans. Eubanks Group Architects (Ed's firm) is preparing all the house plans, both preliminary and construction. At this point, we estimate that this pro- cess is approximately 75% completed. We are working to break ground on the new Chapter House redevelopment in May and no later than June 2019. e 12-month construction period and a fall 2020 available apartment oc- cupancy is driving our start date. How Do We Fair Against Other Fraternities? We have a great beginning to this project and now is our chance to make the Chapter better. But we can't do that without broader alumni support. With only having support from 8.3% of our alumni base, our ideal plans for the new Chapter House may shi. We need the support of every Alpha Nu alumnus if we are going to raise the remaining $713,500 to reach our $3 million fundraising goal and keep our vision intact. e average Greek fundraising campaign has 25% participation among alumni. Other chapters at UT are in the midst of completing or have fin- ished similar fundraising campaigns and have much higher participation than ours. ose include: Phi Gamma Delta—38.50% Phi Kappa Psi—22.60% Pi Kappa Alpha—13.80% Kappa Alpha Order—12.60% Beta eta Pi—12.60% Make an Impact Today To reach our project goal of $3 million, we will need the support of each and every Alpha Nu.
