Beta Theta Pi - Kansas State University

T he Beta experience is certainly more than the stone, mortar, and ivy of 500 Sunset Avenue. However, the chapter house plays a significant role in the development of our brothers and is a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. 500 Sunset Avenue has been a part of Gamma Epsilon's legacy for nearly 90 years and is showing its age. Built in 1930, the chapter house had its last full renovation in 1998 and the bathrooms were updated in 2007. It has become clear we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive and provide a quality living environment. KEEPING OUR BROTHERS SAFE e safety of our 89 collegiate members is of utmost importance to the Beta eta Pi Holding Company; we must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians. According to the National Fire Pro- tection Association's 2017 report, 4,100 structure fires occurred in dormitories, fraternities, sororities, and barracks between 2001-2015. ese fires caused 35 injuries and $14 million in property damage each year. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Kansas State University is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to thrive. Beta eta Pi is leading the way with placing an emphasis on educational space with- in the chapter house as our Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State chapters have invested significantly in mixtures of small-group and individual study areas. is is not just Beta chap- ters, as at K-State Delta Upsilon, eta Xi, and FarmHouse all have added areas dedicated to academics within their chapter houses. Our plan will ensure that Gamma Epsilon excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. SETTING OURSELVES APART While Beta continues to attract some of the top men, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other fraternities that have updated their facilities and now must also compete with the amenities offered in new, off-campus housing options. Since our renovation in 1998, at least 10 fraternities at K-State have undergone a major ren- ovation, and more are in the planning stages. ese include: Acacia, Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Upsilon, FarmHouse, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and eta Xi. We can no longer meet the needs of our members; our chapter house is nearing 90 years old and needs to be updated to ensure the Gamma Ep- silon Chapter is offering a first-class facility to our collegiate brothers. 3 Our Needs and Opportunities BETA THETA PI
