She also knows the festival from a vendor's standpoint, having sold homemade and natural baby products there back in 2011. (She sold out of everything, which helped inspire her to open a bricks-and-mortar store in downtown Fayetteville later that year.) Now she's learning about the festival from an entirely new perspective – as its executive director. Allen was named to the job on December 1, three months aer the departure of longtime executive director Carrie King and a scant five months before the 2019 festival. As such, the major entertainment had already been scheduled and overall planning was well underway. Since then, Allen has been riding the wave, learning the ropes, doing the job and making notes for the future. is year's festival will be great, she said.
