Get certified at FTCC! M U S I C ere will be three nights of concerts, as well as performances by local musicians on Saturday and Sunday. General admission is free but you can buy front-row seats, aka Best Seats in the House, for $25 apiece at the festival's website. Here's who to look – and listen – for in this year's concerts: FRIDAY – Hip-hop and rap are back aer the successful debut of these genres at last year's festival. First, though, is the festival's opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Jill Charles, a local singer and military wife and mother, will perform the National Anthem. Lotus Sun, a local rock group, will play at 6:30 p.m. e evening's theme gets going at 8 p.m. with e Pharcyde. An alternative hip-hop group from South Central Los Angeles, e Pharcyde is best known for several big dance and rap hits in the '90s, including "Drop," "Passin' Me By," "Runnin'" and "She Said." At 9 p.m. comes Tone-Loc, whose late '80s singles "Wild ing" and "Funky Cold Medina" went platinum and got him nominated for a host of awards, including Grammys and MTV Video Music awards. He won an American Music Award for Favorite Dance New Artist in 1990. When Loc finishes and you collapse from dancing, fireworks will start blasting off over the park. Sit down and enjoy the boom – and bloom – of the light show. SATURDAY – is is a day for fans of country music and southern rock, with daytime concerts by Jill Charles & Nobody's Business and the Denver Nixon Band. e evening's entertainment starts at 7 with singer-songwriter Corey Smith, who describes himself as a "fan-made man," having sold over a million concert tickets, 1.5 million digital
