Discove r Cit yV iewN C.co m's fre s h up d ate d loo k ! | 39 In early March, the Fayetteville Talbots held a fashion show as part of the chain's annual month-long campaign for Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that helps unemployed and underemployed women achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools they need. e show featured an array of sporty, sassy and comfortable-looking spring outfits, all modeled by local women who shop at Talbots. Each model looked to be having a blast sashaying along and striking poses while a corporate stylist from Talbots talked about easy ways to change up the various looks. But everyone also heard about Dress for Success, which has helped more than a million women in 30 countries since its founding in 1997. Talbots partnered with O, e Oprah Magazine on a special limited-edition clothing collection and 30 percent of the net proceeds go to Dress for Success. Talbots also collects donations of money and nearly new women's workwear for the charity. Robin Hicks, manager of the Fayetteville Talbots, said both the money and the clothes are distributed locally. e clothes are cleaned first. "is is the biggest thing that Talbots does every year," she said. And it didn't hurt for attendees to learn at the same time about how to mix patterns (use complementary colors and make sure the patterns in question are different sizes), how to dress outfits up or down, the value of scarves (they can add a pop of color to an outfit or get tied to a purse to change up its look) and lots more.
