It's the Tree of Life. is tree was promised in the Garden of Eden to Adam and Eve if they had obeyed. is tree represented eternal life, a life with perfect, uninterrupted communion with God. But when they sinned by partaking of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve lost the Tree of Life. Such devastating loss was not to remain forever, for God the Father sent his Son, Jesus Christ, into the world, not that it would be condemned but saved by him (John 3:16). God restored that promised Tree of Life. When the Bible closes, God speaks of the Tree of Life that heals and nourishes the nations. is tree reverses the curse that was brought about by Adam and Eve (Revelation 22:1-3). is tree is Christ, who is the only way, truth and life to the Father (John 14:6). Let Christ be the object of your meditation and worship now and forever. A Dogwood Trail runs through my neighborhood, undoubtedly because the area is lined with the trees. And my family and I are on pins and needles waiting for the dogwood trees in our front yard to show us their true colors. You can be sure that when they do, we will be reminded of why we celebrate Easter this season: e spotless yet bloodied Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, the Tree of Life, who takes away the sin of the world, who was raised from the dead, so that those who trust in him might have life in the full. It is this person, truly God and truly man, who offers eternal life to all who would come to him, all who are weary and heavy-laden, that they might find true rest. As we behold the beauty of the dogwood, let us all the more behold its Creator, the all-beautiful Christ.
