It's the story of the singer's eventful life, one that included marriage at 13, an ascent to the top of her industry and a nervous breakdown. "The Doors" (1991) Val Kilmer perfectly captured the flaky, troubled genius that was lead singer Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's superb biopic of the influential 1960s rock group that was behind such hits as "Light My Fire," "People Are Strange" and "Riders on the Storm." The film covers Morrison's early life and career with keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore (Kyle MacLachlan, Frank Whaley, Kevin Dillon) before his death at age 27 in 1971. "Ray" (2004) Jamie Foxx won a lead actor Oscar for his turn as legendary bluesman Ray Charles, who triumphed over blindness and rose from humble beginnings to attain music stardom. Of course, there were problems along the way – drug addiction and a weakness for women among them – but he managed to quell his demons in Taylor Hackford's superb drama.
