Nearly every college in America uses one or both of the tests for evaluating a student's college readiness along with other factors like grades and extracurricular activities. Because not all schools��� grading standards are the same, the ACT and SAT scores are used by admission officers to gain a more consistent national perspective. More than 1.6 million students took each of these tests in 2011. Many students take both exams. No new grooming this week, but plans are to groom next week if any new snow comes in. Plans are to groom about six miles of trail in the McGowan crosscountry ski area on Feb. 15. You can check out a map of the area that is posted at the trailhead. Eagle Lake Ranger District: Trails are melting with the warm temperatures. Dirt and hazards are starting to show up, so be careful riding. Lake Almanor Snowmobile Club is having its poker run on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Chester Snowmo- bile Park so come out and enjoy the fun. The Bizz Johnson Trail from Devil���s Corral to Goumaz, about five miles, will be groomed Feb. 15 for cross-country skiing. Hat Creek Ranger District: Both Ashpan and Latour are 100% groomed, each with 50 miles of open trail. Con- ditions are good even with the warm temps. The area received 2-6" of fresh snow from the last storm on Feb. 7. Grooming will continue on an as needed basis or as weather conditions dictate. As always watch for hazards - with the warmer temps they are more numerous and can be unpredictable. Police reports The following information is compiled from Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Sheriff���s Department, Corning Police Department and California Highway Patrol. Arrests ��� Daniel Joseph Marshall, 33, Corning was arrested on Crazy Horse Ridge for a felony parole violation. ��� Lauretha Dawn Starnes also known by the last name Toler, 40, Red Bluff was arrested at Rocking R Restaurant for possession of a controlled substance and second degree burglary. Bail was $50,000. ��� A woman reported about 1:30 a.m. Thursday that her son had called her stating he was at Tower Mart on Solano Street in Corning and someone has drugged him. The woman said she believed he might be under the influence of drugs and suffering from reality issues. Myles Arthur Lewis, 26, of Corning was arrested and Yahi Trail, Upper Bidwell Park ��� Sunday March 3, 9 a.m. Meet at Horseshow Lake Parking Lot E. Scare ��� Shortly after 7 p.m. a man reportedly jumped out from the bushes in front of Metteer School, grabbed a 15-year-old girl from behind and covered her mouth. The girl was able to get away and was home safe when her parents called the Red Bluff Police Department 15 minutes later. Vandalism Vandalism was reported at Big 5 Sporting Goods Thursday. Logs show an arrest was made. Crash A non-contact hit and run involving a pickup being forced off the road took place at 8:21 p.m. Thursday in the area of Paskenta and Gyle roads. The non-injury accident involved a dark blue or black Honda that forced a Dodge 2500 extended cab pickup off road. The pickup was not blocking the lane of traffic, but did crash into the bridge. Nothing further was available. Odd At 12:58 p.m. Thursday, a woman on Scott Avenue in Corning reported two men wearing dark clothing were at her front door trying to sell Girl Scout cookies. The men were last seen going west on Scott. The men, who were selling magazines, but unable to provide a business license, were contacted and asked to move along. Trash heist Someone on Stanmar Drive in Corning requested extra patrol Thursday as unknown subjects were taking her trash every night.
