In the short-lived "Windfall," Perry played one of the winners of a lottery jackpot, and he then co- starred in the drama "John From Cincinnati." Perry also appeared in multiple episodes of the medical mystery "Body of Proof," and he went on to a similar run as a police detec- tive's incarcerated brother on "Ties That Bind." Soon after the last show would come what turned out to be Perry's final series role, Archie's father Fred on "Riv- erdale." The CBS comedy will return to the Thursday lineup when it begins its fourth sea- son April 18, with its ensem- ble cast — including James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Colin Hanks and Betsy Brandt, to name a few — and its format of several short stories (and Short stories, since that's the show's family's name) intact. That isn't to say there won't be some changes, though, as the network's press release on the series' return puts it: "This season, the Short family welcomes a few new family members and weathers an unexpect- ed health crisis, plus some long-hidden secrets are revealed in an unexpected way." Q : Will Jennifer Lopez do another drama se- ries, now that "Shades of Blue" is over? — Deborah Harris, Providence, R.I. A : Though she has a couple of shows in the works as an executive pro- ducer, there's no guarantee she'll star in either of them. However, it bears mention that she developed "Shades of Blue" without consider- ation of taking the central acting role; NBC promised her an immediate commit- ment to the series if she would do that, so that's how that came about. In other words, it depends on the situation — and, as Lopez told us during the "Shades" run, also on the material. In the meantime, she remains on television as an executive producer and judge on the NBC competi- tion series "World of Dance."
