Farmington has become one of the fastest
growing city's in Washington County, and it
shows no signs of slowing down. e city has
been actively working on several renovations
and upgrades on local parks, schools, and with
the increase in residents, there are more housing
projects being developed.
Early settlements in Farmington date back
to the 1820's by William H Engle, who operated
Engles Mill at the time. Engle is also responsible
for the current city name. He thought the local
area was ideal for farming and raising families,
and through that, Farmington was born. e
town has been involved in crop production of
strawberries and grapes, as well as home to the
Stark Brothers Nursery, which was one of the
oldest and largest nurseries in the United States.
Today's Farmington is not quite as rural,
but still offers the hometown feeling while also
providing for the needs of its residents. ere
are several local businesses in town, as well
as several amenities that include Creekside
City Park, the Farmington Senior Center,
and Valley View Golf Course, among others.
Farmington also has a Chamber of Commerce
comprised of local businesses and members of
the community, working to continue to make
Farmington
firmly
planted in
