Spring 2019 MANIFESTO C H A P T E R : t h e t a c h i b u . c o m | A L U M N I : g a m m a u p s i l o n . o r g Gamma Upsilon Hosts Its 5th Annual Night at the Chicago Wolves On February 2, brothers watched the Chicago Wolves take on the Manitoba Moose, beating them 5 to 2! This year, we reserved two adjacent suites, selling all 30 tickets to local alumni and their families. A great time was had by all. Gamma Upsilon Museum and Resale Shop By: Marty Deering '89, President, Gamma Upsilon Alumni Corporation Our chapter of Theta Chi has a rich history, filled with stories of overcoming great obstacles, athletic prowess, social events, parties that legends are made of, chapter awards, and great individual leaders who have accomplished success, fame, and fortune who we can point to proudly and call our brothers. We need to preserve our heritage and pass these stories on to future generations so they understand who built our chapter and its rise as well as the struggles it has endured. Who were the men who made it great? How did they do it? Where are they now? Gamma Upsilon is beginning a drive to gather items for our historical museum. Do you have a box in the basement marked "College Stuff " or "Theta Chi" or "Bradley" that you haven't gone through in a while? I am asking our brothers to look for our chapter memorabilia and photos of any sort (please try to identify who is in the photos, the context, and the year if you know it). We need awards, trophies, jerseys, and any official documents, any fun artifacts connecting us to our alma mater, the pledge program, newspaper clippings, and yearbooks. This will take some time to gather, sort, organize, clean, label, etc., but I feel it will be worth the effort. Once we designate the area for the Chapter Historical Museum, we will design and build a display to house our long and interesting story. The Resale Store Many of you are probably like me and have some old Theta Chi clothing or other paraphernalia such as glassware, specialty advertising products (aka chotchkies), or maybe you have pledge pins, lavaliers, or badges. We are accepting any and all of these items as a donation to our resale shop. You never know, if you donate something to the store that is a true classic…it may end up in the museum! This shop will be a place where pledges, active members, and alumni can browse to find a fun throwback party shirt from 1991, a cool beer pitcher from 1983, or champagne glasses from spring formal 1974! Personally, I was never able to afford a Theta Chi badge while I was in school, so maybe this program will make it more attainable. All of the proceeds will go to the Theta Chi for Life Campaign. This 70th anniversary will be a perfect time to bring our photos, memorabilia, and our stories together! Make sure your register today. If you need to mail your donation, please send it to Theta Chi, 1308 W. Fredonia Ave., Peoria, IL 61606. Attn. President. The 2019 Theta Chi for Life Campaign is now ready to receive your donations. To make your donation and receive your due recognition at the 70th anniversary reunion, visit gammaupsilon.org and donate via an electronic check or a credit/debit card. If you encounter any problems, please contact Bob Carroll '88, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, at rcecarroll@aol.com. 2019 Gamma Upsilon Annual Campaign Is Open for Business!
