Situated in western Fayetteville, the park is the destination for a number of family activities. You can walk the loop, play on one of the two playgrounds or watch your children compete in athletics on the football field, the soccer field or on the tennis courts. On weekend mornings and early evening during the week, the park is a beehive of activity as families gather to cheer their children on in recreational athletic play. An excitement fills the air, which only adds to shrieks of children laughing as they chase each other around the playground. Their mothers smilingly look on from nearby benches or stand ready to catch them as they come down the slide. The sights and the sounds of the park invite you to relax and savor the moment. There���s no better way to do that than by putting down a blanket on one of the many grassy areas and having a fun family picnic. And then, if the mood hits you, you can amble over to the lake and throw in a line. Lake Rim is known for its fishing and many a county resident has whiled away a day or evening on its banks. Lake Rim Park invites Fayetteville residents to relax, put the world on hold, and simple be ... a lost art in our hectic world. trek through some of the most beautiful landscapes our community has to offer, with a diverse blend of trees, plants and wildlife and some of the best views of the river you���ll find anywhere. The terrain can be flat or slightly hilly. In addition to the wooden bridges, including one covered bridge, there is a 700-foot boardwalk through the marsh and wetlands near Clark Park. Along the trail are interpretive signs explaining the wildlife and plant life found in the area. There are more than 700 species of plants and trees, and 150 species of birds. The River Trail area is also home to an unusual combination and diversity of hardwood trees. Frogs, lizards and turtles are common sights, with an occasional deer. But if you are riding your bike, don���t try to read all of the signs as you are whizzing by, that���s an accident waiting to happen! The trail is designated as part of the East Coast Greenway. The Greenway is a series of urban trails and greenways that will eventually connect from Maine to Key West, Florida, similar to the Appalachian Trail. The trail is not a loop, so be sure that you only ride out as far as you know you can ride back. Some sections of the trail are steep and therefore hazardous. Bicyclists are to maintain speeds under 15 mph and yield to pedestrians. Carefully control your bike on slopes. The Cape Fear River Trail is one of Fayetteville���s most favorite places to indulge in some fun outdoor activities. Gear up and take out your 10-speed, or strap on your hiking boots and march up and down this hills of the rocky terrain, or take Fido on a 4.2 mile walk over the bridges and through the beautiful trees and plants. Best Tennis Court Mazarick Park Belvedere Avenue, Fayetteville www.fcpr.us/parks.aspx Mazarick Park is a multi-purpose park featuring fishing, boat rentals, a Frisbee Golf course, picnic shelters and trails. For Fayetteville residents who play tennis, it also has tennis courts, which local residents think top the courts available in the area.
