The Ivy 3 A lpha Phi at Michigan State has been thriving. Between enjoying our new formal living room for studying and playing outside in the beautiful East Lansing, we have been very busy. Fall brought us new members, tailgates, philanthropy, and cider. With the holiday season came cookie decorating and Bachelor marathons. We cannot wait to continue the fun this spring. New Year, New Sisters Our fall recruitment was one of our best. We were the top recruiter on campus and have a pledge class full of wholesome, fun girls. As the year progressed, our Recruitment Chairman added four New Members to the fall 2018 class. VP of Recruitment, Emily Fitzgerald '16 said, "Before winter break, I was so excited to add four beautiful women into our chapter as COB members. I cannot wait to see what amazing things they bring to Alpha Phi." Giving Back to the Community As for chapter volunteer activities, all our members participated in Safe Halloween. This program opened our "Greek Row" main street of M.A.C. to all the children of East Lansing and the surrounding area to trick-or-treat. Our chairmen, Julia Gough '17 and Rachel Mourad '17, created a colorful game for kids passing by. Rachel said of this special event, "All the kids of East Lansing have such a good time every year coming in their costumes, playing games, and collecting tons of candy. I love that we get to be part of this community event each year, and I hope we do for years to come!" Around Halloween, we also hosted a sisterhood event at the cider mill. It was so much fun for the whole chapter to really get to know our New Members better. Connecting on Campus To encourage Greek-wide sisterhood, our Panhellenic Council created a program called "SisterSwap." We switched houses and shared meals with different sororities on campus all semester. We also invited Sigma Nu for a barbecue. Thank you to our house director, Isabel, for reaching out to the chefs and setting this up. We really appreciate Isabel and all she does for us. In November, we hosted a parents' tailgate for the Ohio State game. It was great to have all of our parents in one place. We also provided alumnae with chapter house tours over Homecoming weekend. They had so much fun finding themselves on our composites, which are hanging in the house. Overall, Beta Beta is very thankful for the fall semester and a wonderful 2018. We are looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to offer new programs. Our new executive board intends to highlight more community and alumnae opportunities. We are excited for more time spent as sisters and for more connections to be made. Please always feel free to stop by our home at 616 M.A.C. Avenue.
