It was senior forward Fransisco Langarica's header off a cross from sophomore midfielder Valentin Hernandez in the 44th minute that had the Bulldogs walking away with the winning result. Gonzales, who has amassed 32 goals this season, which, according to MaxPreps.com is the most in the Northern Section, is playing at 70 percent after an illness, Bulldogs coach Jose Sanchez said. But there's no denying Gonzales' role in Los Molinos' year on the pitch, and in the standings. According to Northern Section Division III playoff points released Monday, the Bulldogs are holding on to the No. 6 seed going to the postseason. If the section takes six teams, and not eight, Los Molinos made Daily News photo by Andre Byik Los Molinos High forward Jose Gonzales, right, chases down a ball at home Wednesday against Hamilton. a strong case to stay in that spot with its win over No. 7 Hamilton. The Bulldogs and Braves were scoreless at the half, but it wasn't for lack of chances. A Hamilton free kick found its way into Los Molinos' net before being waved off by the officials on an offsides call. And Gonzales' speed, agility and superior ball handling forced Hamilton's goal keeper to make some legitimate saves. Gonzales routinely made something out of nothing. Additionally, when the Bulldogs needed help from their own keeper, junior Ramon Pena, he came through, tipping strong chances out of play, quelling opportunities in the box and leading with callouts to his team. First-year Hamilton coach Merced Najera said his team had opportunities, but it just wasn't its day. It was a playoff of sorts for the Braves, Najera said, because if only six teams make it to the postseason, the Braves would be on the outside looking in. Clint Dempsey put the U.S. ahead in the 36th minute but the Americans, using a new-look defense that featured Omar Gonzalez and Timmy Chandler, gave up the lead when Juan Carlos Garcia tied the score with a bicycle kick in the 40th at San Pedro Sula. Bengston, who plays for Major League Soccer's New England Revolution, scored the winner when defender Geoff Cameron and goalkeeper Tim Howard both went for a pass by Maynor Figueroa to Oscar Boniek Garcia. That allowed Garcia to tap the ball across to Bengston for a shot into an open net, and Gonzalez was too late to challenge him.
