Pro: We have 110-plus fun, caring, diverse sisters. These sisters are strong women who personify the proud hallmarks of Alpha Xi. Con: Our old house is a very real recruitment and retention liability. As you know, a chapter house is the focal point of sorority life. OUR COMPETITION HAS ALREADY REBUILT. G amma Phi Beta's home is the oldest sorority structure on the SMU campus. Six sororities have undergone complete rebuilds and a seventh will soon undergo a to-the-stud remodel. The sorority houses have implemented the latest security, larger meeting rooms, dual-purpose rooms, additional study spaces, and ADA-compliant builds. The houses have been designed with recruitment in mind with easily flowing rooms and impressive entryways. And, yes, the current number of sororities on campus has decreased to eight—making Greek life more competitive for recruiting and all chapters' sustainability. If we want to recruit and retain top-quality women, we must offer quality facilities. 2014 2015 2013 2019 2009 Source: Chi Omega, SMU
