''He's somebody that I think you reward,'' Harbaugh said Tuesday following his final team meeting of the season before players parted ways. ''You know he's out there and opposing offenses know that he's out there. He tackles and does everything that you'd want a safety to do. I feel like you reward those type of people. Who do you reward if MCT photo The 49ers' Dashon Goldson takes down the Ravens' Ray Rice on Sunday. you don't reward those type of people?'' The 28-year-old Goldson has played on one-year contracts the past two seasons, including the 2012 franchise tag of $6.2 mil- lion, and made it clear he's ''not for that'' again. He had 69 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble this season as San Francisco returned to the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL | West Valley 56, Red Bluff 46 NHL Spartans fall to Eagles at home, 56-46 Chicago LATE Sharks Today's games BOYS SOCCER Foothill Red Bluff years. Goldson was among the players scheduled to meet with general manager Trent Baalke on Tuesday as they packed up their lockers and headed out for the offsea- son following Sunday's 3431 loss to Baltimore in New Orleans. Goldson has seen plenty of others in his own locker room receive lengthy deals. In late November, linebacker NaVorro Bowman got a five-year extension through the 2018 season worth $45.25 million, with $25.5 million in guaranteed money. ''I think he deserved what he got. It was like a little, like, 'Wow, OK,' but I had to think about what was more important and that was this team and getting to the Super Bowl,'' Goldson said. For now, he's not going to worry too much and let his agent handle negotiations. See 49ERS, page 2B 4:30 p.m. Hamilton Los Molinos 3:30 p.m. Follow @TehamaSports on Twitter for live game coverage. By ANDRE BYIK DN Sports Editor GIRLS SOCCER Red Bluff High's Adrienne Hinkston attempts a shot over the West Valley Eagles at home Tuesday. The Lady Spartans' Daisy Brose, normally a lock in fastbreak situations, drove to the hoop with less than a minute to play and missed a layup. It was indicative of how Red Bluff's night went Tuesday, when the Spartans fell to the West Valley Eagles 56-46 at home. West Valley started things off quickly, reeling off the first six points of the game and forcing the Spartans to take a time out. Red Bluff would go to the second quarter down 14-11 as the Eagles took advantage of the Spartans' lack of size in the middle with their center Payten McKerras out of the game. The Spartans, for what it's worth, displayed the same stifling defense they've consistently shown throughout the season and forced the Eagles to turn the ball over at midcourt numerous times but couldn't establish a consistent inside game on the night. The Spartans briefly held a 27-25 lead near the end of the second quarter but a West Valley 3-pointer had the Eagles up 28-27 at the half. Red Bluff chipped away at the Eagles lead and were even with them at 36 midway through the third when both teams couldn't buy a basket until West Valley hit a free throw to go to the fourth up 37-36. Then the Eagles' Shelby Weekly drilled three 3s in the fourth to put the game out of Red Bluff's reach. The Spartans (15-6, 3-2 Sac River League) went 13-of-28 shooting from the free throw line. The Eagles (11-12, 2-4 SRL) were 13 of 20. Spartans coach Jason Carreras didn't mince words a few weeks ago when he said Red Bluff trains for the league rival Cougars. The Spartans took down the Cougars 4-2 on Dec. 14 and the teams tied their Jan. 18 matchup 1-1. It's the penultimate league game for the two teams. Houston drops bombs on Golden State in routing HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston fans knew the Rockets were on the verge of history against Golden State on Tuesday night, needing one more 3pointer to set an NBA record. Warriors coach Mark Jackson wasn't going to let that happen. The Rockets settled for tying an NBA record and set a franchise mark with 23 3-pointers in a 140-109 win over the Warriors. Houston matched the single-game record for 3s set by Orlando in a win over Sacramento on Jan. 13, 2009. The Toyota Center crowd realized the outright record was within reach in the final three minutes, chanting ''One more 3!'' But the Warriors took away Houston's chances of getting it by fouling at the end. ''We're not going to lay down,'' Jackson said. ''If you're going to try to get the record, we're going to stop it.'' The Warriors should've employed that plan sooner. Jeremy Lin sank five 3pointers, a career high, and Chandler Parsons and James Harden hit four apiece as the Rockets reached a season-high point total. They also tied an NBA record with 14 3pointers in the first half and dished out a seasonhigh 35 assists on 46 field goals overall. ''Thankfully, we were just able to get a bunch of open looks and knock them down,'' Lin said. ''That's just the way it is sometimes.'' Lin scored 28 points, Harden added 18 and Parsons had 16 for Houston. The Rockets put on the shooting display without their best 3-point shooter — Carlos Delfino, who sat out with a right elbow injury. ''We just got hot tonight,'' Harden said. Jarrett Jack scored 20 points and David Lee had 18 for the Warriors. Stephen Curry, averaging 21 points per game, scored only seven points on 3-for12 shooting. Houston set a Toyota Center scoring record and reached 140 points for the first time since April 1995. ''Throughout the whole game, you figured they'd cool off,'' Curry said. ''But we have to force them to take tougher shots. You just can't give them open SANTA CLARA (AP) — Still steaming over the Super Bowl loss, Colin Kaepernick packed up his belongings in the 49ers locker room and made plans with teammates to work out this offseason. They won't have to wait long. Kaepernick said Tuesday that he'll be training in the Atlanta area within a week, and the strong-armed and fleetfooted quarterback will bring some of his receivers along with him. All of it is part of Kaepernick's quick evolution from backup to starter that will continue when he enters training camp as the unquestioned franchise star.
