4A Daily News – Wednesday, February 6, 2013 Commerce business&enterprise Restaurant has new owner Consignment shop makes a difference for women Courtesy photo As of Jan. 1, Gary Olson acquired the Tremont Cafe and Creamery, at 731 Main St., in Red Bluff. Stop in and say hello and enjoy ice cream and homemade pies. The restaurant is now serving beer and wine and has prime rib every Friday and Saturday. Business hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. The Tremont can be reached at 529-4012. The California Health Collaborative has partnered with Keri Dean owner of Corning Consignment & Resale to raise funds for breast care services to women in Tehama County. Dean first heard about the program while going through her own battle with breast health and decided she wanted to help. Dean has come up with a great plan to raise funds for Tehama County women by taking donations at her store Corning Consignment & Resale at 811 4th St. Corning. These items will be put in the shop with a sticker indicating that all proceeds from the sell will be going to the California Health Collaborative Clinical Education Coordination & Nurse Navigation Program (CECaNN). A little about what the program provides: The California Health Collaborative, a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization, seeks to help low income and under or uninsured individuals in Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Plumas & Tehama counties overcome barriers to timely breast care services through the Clinical Education, Coordination and Nurse Navigation (CECaNN) Program. 80% of funds go directly to patient care for services in our community as follows: Medical claims reimbursement for breast and/or cervical cancer diagnostics such as mammogram, biopsy and MRI services Ancillary services to facilitate an individual's ability to comply with treatment and follow-up for breast and cervical cancer Assistance for ancillary services/products such as: transportation, gas, groceries, utility assistance, travel accommodations, child/elder care, bras, prostheses, lymphedema garments 20% of funds go directly towards outreach and education to individuals in our community regarding breast and cervical health as follows: Community events such as health fairs, cultural fairs, etc. Tailored health education sessions Those in need of services or to make donations, call Ashlee Huffman, California Health Collaborative 25 Jan Court, Ste. 130, (530) 345-2483 x 202 Chico or send an email to ahuffman@healthcollaborative.org. Chamber promotes events and tourism, holds farmers markets In my job at Express, I have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people who are unemployed or underemployed as well as helping businesses to find excellent employees. The Chamber serves a similar purpose in our community but many of those things go unnoticed. Our Chamber makes a difference by promoting community events, promoting tourism, by organizing farmer's markets and community parades, the 11 Days of Round-Up organizing and promotion, business networking events and by promot- ing local business growth and helping to protect businesses from government regulatory nightmares. Because the Chamber staff is busy working behind the scenes, a lot of times it doesn't get the recognition it so deserves. Our Chamber has a staff of three of the hardest working people I know with a deep love and commitment to Tehama County. This "cheer squad" led by Dave Gowan is constantly looking for ways to bring new and exciting events to our area. I hope everyone had the opportunity to visit the Bull Sale and stop by the Tehama Country Visitor's booth recently. This is just another way we are helping to promote this beautiful area. I want to personally invite the community to come out to our first annual "B.E.A.M" Business Expo and After-hours Mixer held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Elks Lodge. This is your opportunity to visit 50 businesses and most booths will have great giveaways, prize drawings and fun interactive displays, plus admission is free. One more important event to add to your calendar is the 11 Days of Round-Up planning meeting held at the Farm Bureau on 10 a.m. to noon today. If you miss this event please contact the Chamber to ensure your community event is included in the 11 Days of Round-Up promotion. It's a great time to be a part of the Chamber and if you'd like to give more of your time and help in volunteering with these awesome events, please don't hesitate to contact me at lisa.hansen@expresspros.com.
