A : That actually was the final season of the Robert Taylor-starring modern-West- ern series, which got to dou- ble its life when Netflix picked it up after A&E Network can- celed it after three seasons. It was one of the earliest examples of the streaming service giving a reprieve to a show that had ended its run elsewhere, and it's become a fairly common practice in those circumstances for studios and producers to in- quire whether Netflix or other outlets might be interested in picking up their series. (Sometimes it still works, as with the forthcoming continu- ation of the former ABC dra- ma "Designated Survivor.") Q : I heard that George Eads was leaving "Mac- Gyver," but I still see him on the show. Is he staying? — Kate Bridges, via e-mail A : It may have happened by the time you read this, but the actor still is slated to leave the CBS adventure-dra- ma and his role as Jack Dal- ton before the series' current season is over. The show is filmed in Atlanta, and Eads reportedly wanted to return to Los Angeles, where his young daughter lives. We sat with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" alum Eads and "MacGyver" title star Lucas Till for a joint in- terview when the CBS reboot premiered, and they attested that they had become (and, from all appearances, were) fast friends as they adjusted to doing the plentiful stunts the show entails. Till also told us that Eads was influencing his musical tastes strongly, so the latter's absence likely will be felt on the set as well as by viewers.
