Sellars decided that she wanted to return to her hometown of Fayetteville, NC, to start a career in teaching. Reflecting upon her educa- tion from Cumberland County Schools, she remembers that she was inspired by her sixth grade Communication Skills teacher at 71st Classical Middle School. Ms. Sellars graduated from N.C. Central University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Com- munications and English. She was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, and worked on the university newspaper as an arts and entertainment editor. Ms. Sellars is currently a 6th grade Language Arts teacher at Ire- land Drive Middle School and is in her second year of teaching. She encourages her students to lovingly accept their peers by working in a positive environment free from negativity and apathy. She truly be- lieves that it is very important to foster relationships with students and parents. In addition to her classroom duties, Ms. Sellars tutors after school in the IDMS remediation program and Global Learning Center. She is also the School Improvement Team secretary.
