We were pleased with the large turnout and have ar- ranged to have our future events at the Community Center, so more people can be accommodated. Be sure to note the change of location. Our next topic is "Arizona Kicks on Route 66, presented by Marshall Shore. Mr. Shore is described as 'Arizona's Hip Historian' and we think his presentation will be fi lled with fun and history. He will pres- ent on December 20 at 7 pm at the Community Center. Our Speak- ers are funded by a generous grant from the Arizona Humanities. Our December Field Trip will happen on December 18, just before this edi- tion comes out. We will have another fi eld trip in January. The date is unde- termined as we go to print, so check the next paper for the date and location. We have been very fortunate this year to receive several dona- tions. We'd like to acknowledge the Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce (see article in prior Desert Messenger) and the Town of Quartzsite, for their much-needed help this month. We were also able to obtain Volume One and Vol- ume Two of "In the Shadow of the Saguaros" by Rosemary Wheeler. Please stop by to purchase these great books! Trivia Question: How many wells were actually at Tyson's Well and the depth? Our docent Kathleen can share the story with you, so please drop by the Museum for the answer. No phone calls please! We continue to need volunteers to assist with a variety of projects in- cluding exhibit cleaning and inven- torying, computer input and general offi ce work, computer maintenance, special projects, docent assistance greeting the public and conducting tours, research of additional infor- mation regarding Quartzsite and general maintenance. Membership of $10 for a year is encouraged. As a member you will receive e-mail no- tices of coming events, have a vote in decisions being made regarding the Historical Society and Museum and participation in our fi eld trips is free. We are a non-profi t historical so- ciety. Visiting the Museum is free, although donations are always wel- come. The Museum is open Wednes- day through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm. We are located at 161 Main Street (parking in rear). Phone (928)927- 5229. E-Mail QHS@TDS.net.
