It would be almost impossible to list everyone who took part so just know that I appreciate all those who did. All your help made things go smoothly and we raised $1500.00 for Carol's Pantry Food Bank. Special thanks to Sharon Vondracek for her Thrivent Action team event for purchasing items for the Chinese Auction table, so we didn't have to solicit raffl e items. We also had a few other wonderful dona- tions for that table. The winner of the Dessert Contest with her won- derful Carrot Cake was Annett Belz who got the handmade sweet grass basket with the Potato Masher as the base. The winners of the Soup and Chowder Festival were as follows: People's Choice went to Laurie Curran and her mom Al- letta Hanna with their Taco Twist Soup. Vol- unteer Tomi Pecina served their soup and then went on to win the beautiful quilt that Barbara Caldwell made. The Winners Selected by the judges were: 1st Place went to the Yacht Club with their famous Boston Style Clam Chow- der. Second place was Coyote Fresh Foods with their Vegetable Beef Soup, and third place was a new person in town LaDell Gresham with her Clam Chowder. We also had some entertainment on stage: start- ing with the Quartzsite Elementary School's PTO with some of the adults and children singing Christmas Carols followed by a Gospel group. The Mormon Choir was missed this year as they were not able to do it. In all we had 12 soups and chowders in competi- tion plus the Lobster Chowder that was enjoyed by all who chose to try it. It was nice having some friendly competition with the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary with their Truckers Soup and Turkey Rice Soup. The others donating were Carol John- son with Vegetable Soup, Sylvia Browning with Portuguese Kale Soup, Sharon Vondracek with Cabbage Soup, Times Three Restaurant with Potato Bacon Soup, Mountain Quail Cafe with New England Clam Chowder, Paul Range with Chicken and Dumplings and One more Chicken and Dumplings. A notice will be coming out in the near future to set a date for those interested in getting together and discuss how we can improve on this in the future and also to get more people involved and someone else to be the Person in charge and set up groups to run the event next year. I am not going to disappear but I've organized it for 5 years and new ideas are always good and it is time for someone else to take the lead. Thank you to everyone who came, donated, cooked, and participated. SWEET DARLENE'S RESTAURANT & BAKERY 776 E.
