Alpha-Delta Zeta Celebrates Massive Recruitment Numbers
Chapter Welcomes New Faculty Advisor
A
t the beginning of the fall 2018 term, our
Chapter House neared maximum capaci-
ty. The High Delta worked tirelessly over
the summer to get one of the largest recruitment
classes that we have had in a long time with 30
new associate members. Since the start of the se-
mester, we have had two of those members drop.
However, only losing two members is an incred-
ible retention rate, and we are hoping to initiate
nearly all of them next semester! We currently
have a total of 69 members living within the
house and seven living elsewhere. This brings
our total active numbers to 76 members.
Initiation Update
In early October, we initiated four new members
into our brotherhood, their Zeta numbers go-
ing from AΔ1473 to AΔ1476. With larger and
larger fall and spring recruitment classes, we
have needed to hold initiations per semester: one
larger class in early spring and one smaller class
in early fall.
Academic Status
In academics, we had a spring 2018 GPA of
3.074. The active members had a 3.152 and the
new members fell at 2.632. The low new mem-
ber GPA is deflated by a few members who
dropped out of classes and/or left the school but
still earned a GPA near 0.0. While this is unfor-
tunate, our Chapter cumulative GPA is 3.239,
which puts us at seventh place of 18 fraterni-
ties—up one place from fall 2017!
Welcoming Our New Advisor
We have recently found a new campus faculty
advisor. His name is Todd Martin and he works
with Missouri S&T advancement and is also the
liaison to the mechanical and aerospace engi-
neering department on campus. He is very ex-
cited to start working with us, and we were very
impressed with him and believe he has a lot to
offer our active Chapter.
House Updates
Over the semester, we have been working on
a few projects around the house to spruce up
the place and add some character. We recently
painted the coat of arms in our bonus room. We
ordered deck furniture and now have picnic ta-
bles, benches, etc., for seating and hanging out.
Lastly, in Bert's Bunker, we are painting a mural
and are developing a schedule to build a bar.
