3 THE ORACLE UPHOLDING THE CORE VALUES Alpha-Omicron Equips Members for Growth, Service, and Leadership T he brothers of Alpha-Omicron Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha are getting ready to wind down the first semester and go head- strong into the second semester. We have 39 as- sociates from all over the United States, includ- ing Long Island, New York, and San Jose. Members Achieve Top Marks The chapter GPA from last year went up by .1 and we now have a chapter GPA of 3.21, which is above the IFC average, all-undergraduate male average, and the all-fraternity average. Chapter Completes Two Successful Philanthropy Events We finished up our first philanthropy for the ac- ademic year on October 14 where our chapter worked with the Monroe Country Special Olym- pics. We formed a flag football team, and for the second year in a row, we competed in the Uni- fied Rivalry Series Flag Football Tournament. Colton Tuzinskim'20, Hunter Roser '20, and Drew Vesling '21 were a part of the team and everybody had a great time. After the game, everyone was invited back to the chapter house where we hosted a cookout and mingled. Our members had a great time and the athletes played well. On top of that, one of the Special Olympics athletes who was there was one of the first students to get their varsity letter in Special Olympics flag football. We are excited to see where this sport goes and we are hope- ful that Special Olympics flag football will be deemed as a recognized sport for high schools around the nation. On top of that, we have raised more than $2,500 for the movement. For our second philanthropy of the year we paired with the Indiana University Police De- partment to do a blood drive on election day. The brothers set a goal to have 30 donors donate 30 units of blood! We have formed a great relation- ship with IUPD and even had a fun and compet- itive basketball game with them at the beginning of the year. Brother Recognized for Stewardship Excellence Matt Spector '19 was honored by the inter- national fraternity's Cross and Crescent pub- lication for his impressive work with Indiana University Dance Marathon (IUDM). His con- tributions do not go unnoticed and we are proud of Matt and everything he has done. To read the full article, visit www.lambdachi.cc and click the latest edition. Members Prove Leadership Ability with International Fraternity Daniel Mayer '20 and I had the opportunity to intern at the Lambda Chi Alpha International Headquarters this past summer. Daniel was the executive office intern while I was the chapter services intern. It was an experience we will never forget. We became great friends with the fraternity staff and learned the basics about how the international fraternity works. We hope that we can take our cumulative experience and help educate the rest of the chapter on how things are operated behind the scenes. Alumni, Come Visit Us Much of our success today would not be possi- ble without the constant support and foundation built by our alumni. Please stop by the chapter house anytime to meet our members and contin- ue the legacy of Alpha-Omicron Zeta. Fraternally, Matthias Ebeyer '20 High Alpha ebeyerm@umail.iu.edu and all undergraduates. "Being involved has made me a well-rounded individual, allowed me to be a part of something bigger than my- self, and helped me make a campus of 40,000 undergraduates feel more like a community." May We Approach the Ideal of Perfect Brotherly Love For Matthias, joining Lambda Chi Alpha has become one of the best decisions he has ever made. Every time he recalls his most cher- ished memories with his brothers, Matthias oftentimes finds himself at a loss to choose a favorite. "There are so many great days here, but I would say I value all of the love and support from my family, girlfriend, High Pi, brothers, and IHQ that I needed to strive in my position to become a better man. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have re- ceived and for everyone that has helped me become the person I am today." If you would like to connect with Matthias and congratulate him on his election to the Grand High Zeta, he can be reached at ebey- erm@iu.edu.
