Chi omega Χ Ω 3 Standing Out But Never Alone Tau Beta Chapter Continues to Thrive in Academics, Philanthropy, and Intramurals T he women of Tau Beta strive for excellence in scholarship, philanthropy, campus involvement, and alumnae relations. Over the last few months, our members' efforts have been recognized through many awards and honors. Tau Beta has been ranked "top in grades" for 24 consecutive semesters. We proudly earned an overall GPA of 3.67 for the fall 2017 semester and 3.63 for spring 2018. This GPA can be compared to the overall Panhellenic GPA of 3.40 and the all-Greek GPA of 3.31. Tau Beta also received the outstanding scholarship award in the 2018 Greek Awards. Every year, we host a weeklong event, Wish Week, to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year's Wish Week included Frats at Bat and Waffles for Wishes, along with benefit nights at local restaurants. With the help of the Greek community and Tau Beta members, we proudly raised over $25,000 this year. Recruitment was a success in August when we welcomed 52 new members to our Chapter. Our goal is to educate the new pledge class on the rich traditions and values that Chi Omegas share across the nation as well as inspire them to become the women they desire to be. As a Chapter, Tau Beta takes pride and enjoyment in our Greek relations through pairings for both America's Greatest Homecoming and the show aspect of Greek life. This year, Tau Beta paired with the men of FarmHouse fraternity for OSU's Homecoming celebration. Our deck for this year was based off of the success story of Steven Spielberg, and it featured his major movies and the legacy he is creating. Overall, we placed second in Sweepstakes, and our deck was loved by all. Furthermore, focusing on future shows, we are paired with the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon for Varsity Revue in spring 2019. Tau Beta members are heavily involved on campus. We have 10 freshmen on the President's Leadership Council, seven PLC facilitators, six seniors of significance, three out of six outstanding seniors, one of the five Homecoming queen candidates, and four Mortar Board top 10 freshmen. An exclusive tailgate for alumnae was held before this year's Homecoming game. A constant goal of ours is to make our alumnae feel welcome, and we hope this event shows our appreciation for their support. Tau Beta is a unique Chapter because of our willing and intentional alumnae. The standards they left behind pushes Tau Beta to keep our wonderful legacy going. Tau Beta is proud of our involvement in intramural sports. This semester we are paired with the men of Alpha Tau Omega for A-league football and soccer. We also have an all-girl A-league team for football. All three of our teams are currently in playoffs, and we expect success and, hopefully, championships from all three. Tau Beta's members keep ambition, integrity, and humility ever at heart. We believe that Tau Beta propels its members to succeed beyond their collegiate careers and grants us the lifelong friendships that we once longed for. We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts made by our alumnae to keep this Chapter strong, and we invite them to visit our Chapter House anytime. Rustic Cuff provided specialized Chi Omega jewelry for the models to wear. Four members were chosen as Oklahoma State's Top 10 Freshman. The students who are selected each year have gone above and beyond the typical student during their freshman year. The honor of being selected as a Top Ten Freshman is a prestigious award and sets the recipients apart from their peers. It is designed to be an encouragement to each of the hon- orees to continue being both success- ful and giving individuals throughout their collegiate careers and the rest of their lives.
