Pacific Northwest Alumni of Washington Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi University of Washington P.O. Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Washington Alpha Delt e Attention: This newsletter is intended for Washington Alpha alumni, undergraduates, and parents. If your son is still attending the University of Washington, he will receive a copy at the chapter house. If he is no longer in school, please send us his permanent address to update our records. H Happy Holidays from the Washington Chapter of Alpha Delt! H Looking to the Future Chapter Leadership Committed to and Excited for Campaign O n behalf of the Washington Chapter undergraduates, I am pleased to express our full support of the Many Hands, One Heart campaign. We are committed to what the future holds for Washington Chapter and take great pride in our history and the reputation alumni have created for us to uphold. Membership in Alpha Delta Phi has been the principal part of all our college experiences. It has provided us with the initial structure we need to succeed in college and in leadership opportunities. It has also provided us with the best friends and times we could hope for. WASHINGTON CHAPTER MAINTAINS ACADEMIC SUCCESS From academics to leadership, the chapter has proved time and again their ability to build the entire man. In the fall we proudly announced our intellectual efforts ranked Washington Chapter first among all fraternities on campus with a GPA of 3.49. This high cumulative GPA puts us in first place among all fraternities on campus, a position we have been able to hold all of 2018. BROTHERS EXCEL IN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP Receiving the E.O. Blackman Most Outstanding Chapter award, as well as the Robert G. McKelvey Award for Academic Excellence, has only increased our drive to remain outstanding in all aspects. We were honored to receive these awards from Alpha Delta Phi International and will continue to strive for chapter and academic excellence in our next calendar year. The Bubble Bash philanthropy auction this year raised more than $65,000 for Seattle Children's Hospital and the Stanley Stamm Summer Camp. The camp is designed for children with terminal or chronic illnesses, whose unique medical needs disqualify them from attending other summer camp programs. The camp facilities include a fully equipped infirmary supported by both trained medical volunteers and non- medical volunteers, giving children the aid they require while offering the chance to fish, canoe, ride horses, and take part in other typical summer camp activities. All proceeds of our philanthropy events go directly to the camp. Furthermore, Washington Chapter also took the championship title for intramural basketball and enjoyed decorating the Temple before the annual Homecoming event. UNDERGRADUATES BEGIN HEALTH AND MENTAL AWARENESS SESSIONS We have implemented a new programming session at the Temple that is benefitting our members' growth. We held mental-health awareness sessions, sexual assault bystander intervention training, anti-drug and alcohol abuse awareness classes, and even CPR training. There is no better way of learning life skills than right at home with your brothers. We were also fortunate enough to host Robert Stacey, the Dean of the University of Washington College of Arts and Sciences, for dinner and a fireside chat about the future of education. We hope to continue our literary tradition and are looking for leaders in business, politics, and education. If you are interested in visiting, we would love to have you, please reach out to me at my email listed below. JOIN US IN SUPPORTING OUR CHAPTER'S GROWTH The renovations for the chapter house will allow two major things to transpire. First, it will provide members with a state-of- the-art facility to live in, fostering a better atmosphere for members to thrive. Second, the renovation will help the chapter be more competitive with the recruitment of new members. Most other UW fraternity chapter houses have recently been updated and this is our chance to remain as top contenders in the Greek community. With a renovation, the physical structure will stand as a testament to our dedication and fuel the brotherhood for generations. THANK YOU, ALUMNI Washington Chapter is entering a very critical time in our journey, and we realize that your support is invaluable. We want to share our successes with alumni everywhere because they are yours as much as they are ours. Your time and support will be paramount as we undergo this transition in the hopes of continuing the excellence we have worked so diligently to create. I ask that you take the time to reconnect with your brothers in the hopes of making this house a home for Alpha Delta Phis of all generations. Xaipe, Lucas Ekstrom '19 President lucasekstrom@hotmail.com Undergraduates and alumni enjoy spending time at the Temple and cheering on the huskies at Homecoming. Students take part in a fireside chat with Robert Stacey, the Dean of the UW School of Arts and Sciences.
