NWA MEDIA PROMOTIONAL SUPPLEMENT • FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013 BEST OF THE BEST 57 ince its humble beginnings in Levy, Ark., in 1972, U.S. Pizza Company has added multiple loca- tions, garnered several accolades and evolved into a strong Arkansas brand. But for many Northwest Arkansans, U.S. Pizza is known simply as the go-to place on Dickson Street for pizzas, salads and sandwiches. U.S. Pizza has thrived on Dickson Street for the past 20 years, and it remains a strong presence due to its diverse appeal and its long-time general manager Rob Shaunfield, said Drew Weber, the company's chief operating officer. "Being on Dickson is great because we get the game crowd, and we get the family crowd. It is just a great place to be," Weber said. Even though the restaurant offers a broad menu loaded with salads, sandwiches, appetizers and more, its foundation is its pizzas, which feature a signature thin crust made from scratch when ordered and baked in stone ov - ens. Over the years, U.S. Pizza's versatile menu has expand- ed due in large part to customer suggestions. Weber cited examples such as the Salad Supreme and Dave's Favorite, which is a specialty pizza that combines grilled fajita chick- en, fresh spinach, Anaheim peppers, light jalepenos, yellow squash, spicy tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, alfredo sauce and fresh mozzarella, feta, parmesan and pepper jack cheeses. While the food quality and service keep people com - ing back, Weber said what really makes U.S. Pizza different is its committed and caring company culture. "In 2011, we gave over 26 percent of our profits away to charities, and our managers and employees gave their own time up to help as well," Weber said. "We have this culture because we promote from within, and we only have great people working for us." Located at 202 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville, U.S. Pizza Co. is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. A special brunch menu with breakfast pizzas and frittatas is featured from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
