6 BEST OF THE BEST FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2015 • NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE PROMOTIONAL SUPPLEMENT Special to NWA Democrat-Gazette T he four Northwest Arkansas campuses and the newest campus in Fort Smith of the Ca- reer Academy of Hair Design have a unified goal — to prepare students to be successful in a profession of cosmetology. The students master cutting, styling and coloring hair, said Career Academy of Hair Design president Jim Butenschoen. They accomplish this with hands-on training with other students and clients. Collectively, the four schools provide an average of 4,000 services to clients each month. Training and services offered to the public include hair cutting, styling and coloring, as well as manicures, skin care and cosmetics. The campus has locations in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Siloam Springs. A shampoo and cut is priced at $7 and offered at all locations. The Rogers and their new Fort Smith location offers aesthetic training and services, including facials, microderm abrasion, waxing and chemical peels. With a program for high school students offered through Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale, Ca - reer Academy has about 400 students enrolled at any one time, Butenschoen said. "Ninety percent of the salons in Northwest Arkansas prefer to hire our students," he said, citing a survey he conducted. "We get our students 'salon ready' so they can get start making good money right away." More information on Career Academy of Hair Design is available at beautynwa.com.
