Special to NWA Democrat-Gazette H aas Hall Academy repeatedly finds itself among the best. For the fourth consecutive year, Haas Hall was ranked the No. 1 public high school in Arkansas by U.S. News & World Report, and was ranked No. 19 in the nation by Newsweek. Because of popular demand, Haas Hall Academy opened a second campus in Bentonville this year. Demand continues to grow for this accelerated college-preparatory, open-enrollment charter school. Leading Arkansas in graduation rates, it is also recognized as a reward school by the Arkansas Department of Education and was ranked in the top one percent of America's Most Challenging High Schools by the Washington Post for the third consecutive year. Haas Hall Academy earned the letter grade of 'A' from the Arkansas De - partment of Education with a perfect score of 300/300, 2015. This grade was based on academic performance and growth of all of their scholars. Haas Hall boasts six national merit scholarship recipients in 2015 and six national merit semifinalists for 2015. The school's newspa- per, the Haas Hall Herald, won the state's top award at the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association Conference, earning a superior rating and winning All-Arkansas for the third consecutive year. Haas Hall Academy hosted blood drives and received a "most im- proved sponsor in education" award from the Community Blood Cen- ter of the Ozarks. In athletics, Haas Hall Academy has two McDonald's All-American tennis players. They were state runners-up in boys and girls tennis and in boys and girls swimming. Nineteen athletes earned all-state honors. Haas Hall Academy's FIRST robotics team earned a coveted spot in the World Championships for the second consecutive year. Seven Haas Hall scholars were offered honors college fellowships, and scholars from the school were accepted to more than 170 presti - gious colleges and universities over the past two years.
