Beauti- ful artifi cial turf, called K-9 Grass, has been installed in some of our play yards so the dogs can play and romp all day, even in the pools, and not get muddy. It has been a truly wonderful addition. There is also a new agility fi eld that is separate from the rest of the campus, so it will be useful for agility clubs, and people who would like to practice agility on their own schedule. Among the other improvements are a new elec- trical system, new eco-boxes to clean the air, remod- eled play structures, gates, corridors, new phone system and more. Many more additions are planned for the coming year, such as new air conditioning units, more artifi cial turf, and even a swimming pool! We also have a new software system which features the ability to request reservations for boarding or daycare online. Another development has been the addition of a comprehensive and structured training system for the Pet Care Technicians. Studying the subtleties of dog body language and communication helps the staff to give the best possible care to each individual according to their personality and unique needs. The study of the dynamics of group play help the staff to prevent confl ict before it ever begins by understand- ing how different dog breeds interact with one an- other and recognizing signs of anxiety or arousal. "Group off-leash play was a relatively new con- cept when we opened eleven years ago," said owner Chaddie Kumpe Platt. "Continuing our education through national conferences and experts such as The Dog Gurus helps keep our four-legged custom- ers and staff happy, healthy, safe, and motivated." Dog Party USA will be hosting their annual Hal- loween Costume Party on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 5:30-8 p.m. There will be delicious food from the Cuisine Queens, live music from "Me & Owen & Char- lie," a costume contest with prizes, games, goody bags and more! Each year has a different theme and this year's theme is "Peace, Love and Paws," some- thing we all need now more than ever. SPECIAL TO NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE Dog Party USA offers variety of improvements for canines and owners alike
