April said. "There is a tremendous amount of collaborative work with the State Department, and for all of the people I have helped obtain passports it is a feeling of gratification to know that I truly made a difference in their lives." April had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., to receive the award with her daughter Megan Burger, where they got a special tour of the FBI office by U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer. Along with meeting Representative Luetkemeyer, April also met U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, who serves as the ranking member on the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee that oversees the U.S. Postal Service. During her time with ΑΧΩ at the University of Florida, April held the office of altruistic chairman for Gamma Iota. April joined ΑΧΩ because she immediately felt at home and wanted to be a part of the lifelong bond between sisters. April has many fond memories with her sisters, house mom, and the cooks and had fun with her pledge class and the incoming pledges who she became very close to. One special memory she has is Mother's Weekend when she was able to introduce her mom to all of her sisters. Working with her sisters on projects helped April understand how important teamwork is, and serving as the altruistic chairman instilled in her the desire to help other people achieve their goals. April has not visited the chapter house since graduation, but she would love to come back and visit to see all the changes for a reunion and to meet with the current members. "My advice to current undergraduates is to learn as much as you can from your sisters." April said. "They will help you with anything you need, and be there for you to create lasting memories. With regard to your studies, follow your heart, listen to your gut, and keep your Alpha Chi friendships strong." April continues her involvement with Alpha Chi as a member of the Mid-Missouri Alumnae Chapter, Kappa Upsilon Kappa. April enjoys traveling and spending time with daughter, family, and friends. Having ΑΧΩ sisters across the country makes for great travel opportunities. She also loves tending to her flower garden and spoiling her cat.
