I 'm so happy to connect with you and introduce myself as the president of Pi Chapter's Affiliated Housing Corporation (AHC) board. It's a privilege to serve the chapter as one of nine alumnae and three collegian board members working together with our house director, Tracie Diehl, to ensure our home is well- maintained and preserved for current and future sisters. One of the joys of serving Pi Chapter is the opportunity to reflect on those college memories, whether they involve climbing out of the window of four-man to bask on the sundeck, or studying in the chapter room with my closest friends. I hope this newsletter sparks you to remember your time on campus and at Gamma Phi Beta. Not surprisingly, we welcomed a wonderful class of new members to the fold through recruitment this year, and we continue to burst at the seams with energy, talent, and enthusiasm. A quick update on our home, as this summer we focused on several smaller projects after investing in the renovation and refurbishment of the main floor living area last year. We updated and enhanced the landscaping and fortified the pillars and front portico. We also brightened the inside as well with fresh paint upstairs. Over winter break we will repair and replace many of the windows in the sleeping rooms—a major project indeed. Of course, with a historic home, there are always unexpected repairs and projects that crop up. And we foresee several less glamorous yet important projects on the horizon, including significant investments in roof repair and replacement, boiler/chiller work, and an eventual overhaul of our heating and cooling systems. Over the years, AHC has been a prudent and effective steward of its financial resources, and this will ensure we can make the necessary repairs and improvements. As you reflect on your time at Pi Chapter, you may think about how your college home created a safe space where you could fan the "inner sparks of possibility." Consider supporting this vision of strong, confident women building their future, and how you can help. Thank you for your consideration, and also for your support of our sisterhood. Angie and her sister were the first in their family to go to college, and to save money she decided to live at home rather than in the dorms. She wanted to meet new people in order to find a sense of belonging that would connect her to campus. She entered recruitment with no preconceived notions about Greek life, so she was eager to learn about all of the sororities on campus and find the right fit for her. When she visited Gamma Phi, she recognized Kim Quick Baker '80 from her high school, someone she really looked up to as a smart and caring leader with great character and class.
