THETA IOTA CHAPTER • KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY Fall 2018 Crescent The Golden Autumn Gree ngs from Your Theta Iota House Corpora on! Ge ng Fall Started with Chapter House Improvements embers returning to 1834 Laramie this semester found some changes to the house, both in personality and in function. Due to the retirement of house director Karen Robbins in May, we welcomed Marcine Crosby King to her new apartment in August. Over the summer, we were tasked with preparing and refurnishing the entire apartment, and we were proud to welcome Marcine with a lovely mix of new and antique furniture, area rugs and other décor that coordinate well with the overall look of the house. Additionally, we were able to freshen up the library just outside her living room with colorful new area rugs and lampshades. Combined with the traditional beauty of the living room and dining room, the first floor of the Chapter House is a constant subject of admiration and receives many compliments from potential new members during recruitment and other visitors throughout the year. We were also able to complete the replacement of the 50-year-old HVAC units in the east wing, transitional hallways, and common areas on the first floor. These units are much easier to control and greatly improve every room aesthetically. Many thanks to all who contributed to this long- awaited improvement! An essential that the chapter is currently lacking is enough matching tableware. The stock of everyday dishes/utensils/ drinkware and serving pieces for all live-in collegians and those members living out of the house who frequently join them has significantly depleted to the point of real need. Wanting to be able to welcome all members and guests to an enjoyable dining experience at Theta Iota, new tableware is an expense that we are requesting your assistance with. Would you consider helping with this endeavor? Perhaps you would consider the cost of a single place- setting of restaurant-grade classic white dinnerware, glassware, and flatware for $53 (includes shipping costs) as a gift to the chapter? Or, enough to complete a dining room table of 10 at $530. To allow for more family-style dinners to be served at the house, the cost for five serving pieces/utensils per table is $65. Of course, any amount that you would like to contribute to the replenishment of tableware would be greatly appreciated and utilized daily. It is the intent of the chapter and house director to improve the dining atmosphere at Theta Iota—a significant bonding time for members (what memories do you have?)—and new tableware will play a role in that experience. Please use the inserted envelope to contribute today! Thank you for considering this need at Tri Delta. As always, you are welcome at 1834 Laramie. Your Theta Iota House Corporation is proud to represent all chapter alumnae as we endeavor to maintain our beautiful house to the best of our ability. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
