Brothers Recognized for Exceptional Operation IHQ Awards Alpha Mu Chapter Award of Excellence, Sacred Purpose Award O ver the past year, Alpha Mu Chapter has received many exceptional awards of achievement, which I am proud to share with you In regard to the National organization, we were awarded our fifth consecutive Chapter Award of Excellence from IHQ for our expertise and merit in many different areas, including scholarship development, pledge and member education, Sacred Purpose, chapter finances, The Ritual, campus involvement, risk management practices, and the integration of the Resolute Man Additionally, our chapter received the Sacred Purpose Award for the second time in the past three years; this award is given to only one of the 161 chapters of Theta Chi and signifies the best health and safety programming within our international organization We are very proud of this accomplishment and hope to share some of our programming and resources with the Interfraternity Council at Iowa State in order to make our community a more safe and supportive space THE AWARDS DON'T STOP THERE⦠Not only did we excel within Theta Chi, but challenged ourselves to stand out within the Iowa State community as well We achieved a cumulative chapter GPA of 321 for the spring of 2018, which is our third consecutive semester above a 32 average Through the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement, we were awarded the Certificate of Merit within the Fraternal Awards of Excellence program Additionally, we received Certificates of Excellence within leadership and civic engagement Not only did we excel within formal award programs, but within Iowa State fraternity and sorority community traditions as well This past year, we placed third in Iowa State's Varieties show, and took home first place in Lip Sync for the second year in a row, securing our victory and leading us to win Greek Week overall We are so proud of our chapter and the presence we have on Iowa State's campus and continually strive to make an impact on the community that has become our home BUILDING THE FUTURE OF ALPHA MU This fall, we have the opportunity to have 16 men in our pledge class and are excited for them to complete their new member education and become initiated brothers We are actively recruiting more men to be a part of our chapter, and look forward to the opportunity continue to grow our membership and brotherhood Thank you so much for your continued dedication to our chapter and its members; without your support we would not be the men we are today We eagerly await more opportunities to show others what it means to be a Theta Chi and exhibit the brotherhood upon which we stand Best, Jack Walker '20 Alpha Mu Chapter President jcwalker@iastateedu
