A trAditioN to Build upoN NAtioNAlly-ACClAimed lAwyer, lifetime SC Brother Why Dudley Oldham '64 Believes in a New Home for Alpha Nu T rial lawyer, husband, father, grandfather, Sigma Chi brother—these are some of the many titles that make up Dudley Oldham '64, Significant Sig, Former Alpha Nu Consul '62-'63. Although he didn't know much about Greek life as a young man at The University of Texas, Dudley knew he wanted to participate. Sigma Chi stood out among the rest, and joining Alpha Nu Chapter was one of the best decisions he could have made. "The friendships I made then still exist today," he shared. "It was a high point of my college experience." Since forming their friendships at 2701 Nueces, Dudley and several of his pledge brothers have gotten together annually since the late '60s. Not only have their bonds gotten stronger over time, but each has attained the type of success that comes with being a Sigma Chi. Dudley's career is extraordinary, having been a trial lawyer at Fulbright and Jaworski, L.L.P., now known as Norton Rose Fulbright—one of the largest corporate law firms in the United States. Dudley was honored to be elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers and to chair the American Bar Association tort section, the Judicial Independence Standing Committee, and the FDCC. He also served on the boards of the National Judicial College and the National Center for State Courts. Over the years, he's had the opportunity to handle many large and significant bet-the-company cases involving disputes, disasters, and accidents all over the world. Though challenging, Dudley feels honored to have been involved in matters like that at the highest level. "It turned out to be beyond my wildest dreams," he recalled. The success Dudley has achieved since graduation would not be the same without his Sigma Chi roots. Although he fondly recalls living in the Chapter House, he knows the house is in need of replacement. The Alpha Nu… A Tradition to Build Upon campaign is the perfect opportunity to build a new, lasting home. "I believe Alpha Nu has earned the right to have a new facility for recruitment and to grow the Chapter into the best it can be," Dudley explained. A new home will not only boost recruitment, but it will keep Alpha Nu a major player on the competitive field. "It's our time to step up, invest, and make it happen," Dudley declared. "Now is the opportunity for a new home for Alpha Nu." You can connect with Dudley at oldhamd@me.com. A lpha Nu Chapter is on track for another great semester.
