W e have had an exciting year so far for the Lafayette Alumni and Beta Chapters at Purdue. To start, we can't express how proud we are of the active Chapter for their growth and accomplishments this year. After a rocky start to the spring semester, the Chapter came together to set new policies and get back to old traditions that brought stability to the house. Meetings are now held every Monday, with Pastor Justin Herman from University Lutheran Church also coming over for dinner and Bible study those nights. Andrew Pratt '08, serving as alumni advisor, deserves a lot of credit for guiding and supporting the men. WELCOME, PASTOR HERMAN We are also excited to announce that Pastor Herman has accepted a bid to become an Honorary Member of Beta Sigma Psi. Ben Scholer '17, ULu Church Council president, extended the offer to Pastor Herman along with the rest of the Chapter in September. At our annual Alumni Homecoming meeting, we also voted to make Pastor Herman an Honorary Member of Lafayette Alumni Chapter. All alumni brothers are invited to come back to the house on November 3 to take part in Pastor Herman's Activation Ceremony following the Boilermakers football game versus Iowa. HOUSE UPDATES Renovation progress continues at the house. This year we are replacing the north stairwell door, as it is rusted out. We have also moved up the replacement of our furnaces as they have definitively reached their end of life and need to be replaced before winter. While those infrastructure replacements are necessary, they aren't the most visible improvements to the house. Fortunately, key active members stepped up to donate their time toward renovation projects. Conley Utz '18 gave the third-floor bathroom a facelift with new flooring, paint, and accessories. It makes that space much more functional and great for house tours. Ethan Ernst '16 and his father repaired and repainted our sign and did a fantastic job with fresh landscaping in the front yard. Work like this showcases the pride our brothers take in the Fraternity and its values. NEW ALUMNI BOARD MEMBERS Finally, we are pleased to announce some additions to the alumni board. Jake Allen '77 will be re-joining the board as our advancement director after a hiatus a few years. Jake will work to plan future alumni events and outreach to keep brothers connected with the house. We also have Ryan Hockemeyer '15 joining the board as alumni advisor since Andrew Pratt is taking a new job out of state. Ryan is starting his Ph.D. at Purdue and we are fortunate to have him as our man on the ground to work with the active Chapter. Thank you to all the alumni brothers who have helped spread the word about Beta Sig scholarships and sent us names of high school seniors who are coming to Purdue. Thank you also to everyone who has donated money to the house and to our scholarship funds. We would not be able to continue our ministry without your support. I hope to see many of you on November 3 or in the near future!
