page 2 Delta Xi with Lizzy Wampler's parents, John and Jennifer. Sophomores Riley Doyle '17 and Kellie Koob '17 explore downtown Memphis as they visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Nothing better than finding a home away from home! Delta Xi welcomed 64 new members from the fall '18 pledge class. I n time for September's Childhood Cancer Awareness month, Delta Xi of Tri Delta celebrated a record-breaking fundraising year for the patients and families at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year, we raised more than $136,000 for the hospital that is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life- threatening diseases. The chapter's record-breaking total was raised in honor of St. Jude patient Lizzy, who passed away after receiving treatment at St. Jude and had a special relationship with the women of Delta Xi. Families like Lizzy's never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food—all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Since adopting St. Jude as its national philanthropic partner in 1999 as a part of their commitment to childhood cancer, members of Tri Delta have raised more than $62 million for St. Jude. Tri Delta made the largest single commitment by a St. Jude partner in 2014 when it pledged to raise $60 million for St. Jude in 10 years, and received prominent naming recognition of Tri Delta Place, the hospital's on-campus short-term housing facility that provides a home to St. Jude patients and families while they receive treatment. To achieve this record total, we hosted a Sincerely Yours letter-writing event, a softball tournament to bring our fraternity neighbors together for the St. Jude mission, a pancake breakfast, and a 24-hour online challenge that raised nearly $16,000 in one day. "It's a special feeling to bond with my sorority sisters over a common goal we all share: ending childhood cancer," said Kendall Chase- Waggoner '16, Delta Xi's philanthropy chairman. "This record-breaking year opened the door to showcase the good that Greek life can do, and the lifesaving mission of St. Jude is something that is near and dear to every Tri Delta's heart."
