10 Think Back. Think Big. Think Beta. Gamma Lambda Continues Dominance in Greek Community T he Gamma Lambda Chapter continues our legacy of excellent perfor- mance. We remain among the best in academics, campus leadership, and new member recruitment, and it shows. Chapter Achieves Third Highest in Grades The brothers of our chapter continue to strive for academic excellence and achieved a GPA of 3.38 with 153 men. An astounding 36 men earned a 4.0, landing them on the President's List, and another 84 brothers were placed on the Dean's List. Once again, Gamma Lambda far outperformed the IFC GPA of 3.16 and the all-men's average of 2.9. Summer 2018 Recruitment The recruitment team, lead by Recruitment Chairman Jacob Kopenski '16, recruited 39 promising new young men this summer. Their pledge educator, Coleman Bourke '20, has already seen great leadership qualities and a genuine desire to become men of principle. They are men of charac- ter, good humor, and musical talent. We are earnestly excited about their potential as young men and as brothers. A Welcome to Our Newest Brothers Last fall we welcomed nine newly initiated brothers of outstanding caliber. Of these young men, three proudly represented our chapter in Spring Sing, they boasted an accumulative 3.47 GPA, and four of the young men had a perfect 4.0. Most importantly, they continue to uphold the reputation of being men of principal our chapter has worked to achieve. We are proud to call these new initiates brothers! Upon the Greek Stage Last year we took first in Freshman Follies coupled with the women of Kappa Alpha Theta, first in Varsity Revue with the women of Chi Ome- ga, and second in Spring Sing paired with Zeta Tau Alpha. In addition to these victories, an array of awards were won. In Follies these included: Best Choreography, Best Vocals, and Best Song Choice. In Varsity Revue we won: Best Choreography, Best Vocals, Best Male Director (Tucker Feix), and Best Male Performer (Levi Bernhardt). In Spring Sing, we were awarded for Best Ensemble. Intramurals Gamma Lambda has a legacy of excellence in athletics. Our participation ranges from basketball to ping pong to intertube water polo, and most of the house is involved. We took home first in intramurals again last spring. This marks the 12th year of the past 13 that this award has been ours. This year we are excited to be paired with the women of Zeta Tau Alpha in intramurals. Brothers Pursue Distinguished Leadership Training Our chapter sent several young leaders to the John and Nelle Wooden Institute in Oxford, Ohio, to gain necessary leadership training and an advanced knowledge of Beta history. Brothers represented our house at the 2018 Beta General Convention located in Norfolk, Va, this August. During our time at convention we met many brothers from all over the United States and Canada. Brothers also pursued valuable leadership training through workshops put on by the General Fraternity at the convention. Our membership is extraordinarily grateful for the leadership and guidance provided by our advisors. We would like to thank Chase Colvin '14 for his continual efforts as Chapter Counselor and dedication to the Gamma Lambda Chapter. On behalf of the chapter active brothers, I would like to extend our grati- tude to you, as alumni, for your continual support. We have you to thank for the ability to thrive here in Stillwater. When you find yourself in town, know that you are always welcome to stop by and I encourage you to do so. Our door is always open to visiting alumni.
