Alpha Beta Chapter 7 S ince breaking ground in April of 2017, Alpha Beta members have been holding their breath to be the first to step through the newly constructed Chapter House. Luckily, it was finished just in time for us to welcome more than 1,700 potential new members to our doors in August, and we have been enjoying it every moment since then. Chapter Welcomes 143 New Faithful Sisters Alpha Beta had an incredibly successful recruit- ment this year with return rates higher than we have ever seen. From sharing our love of Chil- dren's Miracle Network Hospitals to enjoying the company of our sisters, we were thrilled to also share a beautiful home to match our vibrant sisterhood. After a rewarding week of events, Al- pha Beta accepted 143 new members. They will now embark on our eight-week new member program, which seeks to enhance the Phi Mu experience by assisting in the transition to active membership. The online component in- cludes an orientation, expectations of member- ship, journal prompts, and in-person meetings. The program is designed to help each member find her place in our sisterhood. After all, we are friends committed to one another through life's ups and downs; friends who will help each sister grow as a leader, servant to the community, and become the best version of herself. Alpha Beta Achieves Above-Average GPA Phi Mu proudly placed above the all-Greek av- erage and all-women average with a 3.43 GPA at the end of the spring 2018 semester. We are devoted to scholastic excellence with in-chapter tutoring and study proctoring. Many sisters are also part of a variety of honor societies at the University of Arkansas, including Alpha Del- ta Lambda Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society, and Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society. Members Host Successful House Dedica on Weekend Alumnae, family, and friends gathered on the weekend of September 15 to celebrate Alpha Be- ta's official house dedication. Speaking with and recognizing countless donors and many more valuable individuals involved in the construc- tion process of the chapter was an unforgettable experience. It truly encompassed all of what we believe; that Phi Mu is a group of women with a mission who are determined to succeed but also know the value in leaning on sisters to help us accomplish our goals. Thank You, Alumnae, Parents, and Friends Our new home keeps Phi Mu as one of the top sorority properties on campus.
