Gamma Phi Beta - University of Missouri

I n April, the Affiliated House Corporation Board hosted a groundbreaking ceremony where we invited the women from our chapter, alumnae, the Panhellenic execu- tive board, and the chancellor of Mizzou to celebrate this exciting new journey for Alpha Delta. We celebrated with a ritual, speeches from past Gamma Phi Interna- tional presidents and the chancellor, pink Gamma Phi Beta hardhats and shovels, and a delicious lunch and dessert. It was a great way to celebrate the growth of our beloved sorority! This past year we have had some of the most rewarding interactions with the girls from Heart of Missouri Girls on the Run. We had over 200 mem- bers serve as volunteers during the 5K race in Columbia. We also hosted sisterhood events where we invited the girls over to paint canvases, deco- rate cookies, and watch the movie Frozen, and our chapter was nominated by Girls on the Run for the Columbia Tribune Hero Award for our contri- butions and support of their program. It was a great honor! Our chapter recently wrapped up recruit- ment, and we are so excited to announce the addition of 62 beautiful, smart, and driven women. The theme for our Bid Day celebration was "NASCAR – Racing Home to Gamma Phi Beta." We celebrated the day taking pictures in front of Tiger Plaza with our amazing decora- tions and bowling and playing laser tag at Lazer Lanes in Columbia! We have many fun events planned for this fall, including Moonball at the MU rec out- door sand volleyball courts. We will invite members from other on-campus organiza- tions to participate in teams and donate money to benefit Girls on the Run and Hearts for Huntington's. We also plan to host many sisterhood events this semester including hot yoga, paint the town, and an escape room. Our initiation is set for October 25 at 5 p.m., and Founder's Day is Novem- ber 4 at 11 a.m. Both will be at the Columbia Country Club, and we would love to see all of our local alumnae there! As always, we thank you for your continued support and are looking forward to celebrating the opening of our new house next fall!
