Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa at the University of Florida • Fall 2018 Beta Tau ConnSKtion E ach new school year brings new opportunities, and we are excited to share with you the new and exciting happenings at the Beta Tau chapter house. But first, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Julia Knight '06, and I am the new house corporation president. I live and work in Gainesville and was provided the opportunity to join the board in 2017 as vice president. The annual meeting brought about other changes in the board's roster. Amanda Banister Rone '02 assumed the vice president role and has been a wonderful asset to the board. We were sad to see London Van Houten Cromwell '09 go at the annual meeting in April. London joined the board in 2014, serving as secretary until she stepped up to the role of president in 2017. We cannot thank London enough for her service and commitment to Beta Tau. In addition to the changes in the house corporation board, we welcomed our new house director, Diane Valdez, at the end of July. Prior to joining us, Diane was a house director at Texas A&M and comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Diane took off running the minute she arrived in Gainesville and has not stopped. Please stop by and say hello to Diane when you are in town; her smile and positivity are sure to brighten anyone's day! We also shifted gears in the kitchen and have partnered with College Fresh, a food service company. College Fresh provides meal options to accommodate dietary restrictions; provides hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday; and allows the collegiate sisters to request late plates and order sack lunches on an app. Chef Jones, who is Colleges Fresh's managing chef for all UF accounts, and his team continue to wow with their abilities and meals. With all of these new opportunities, the new school year is off to a wonderful start! As always, alumnae engagement is important to the success of Beta Tau and the house corporation board.
