M issouri collegians and alumnae were in the spotlight in late June at the 60th National Convention of Alpha Chi Omega in Austin, Texas. It was a good year to be from Missouri. Chapter executive board members, advisors and members of the house corporation board and Kappa Upsilon Kappa, the Columbia, Mo., alumnae club, represented mid-Missouri. Alpha Nu, which was Alpha Chi Omega's 2017 recipient of the National Council Trophy for large chapters, received the 2018 Seeking the Heights Award for Risk Management Programming. This award recognizes the chapter with the strongest and most consistent programs for safety for chapter members. Carla Henke Mattson '67 received her 50-year pin at one of the dinners during Convention weekend. Lou Ann Pfeifer Wilcox '75 was elected to the National Nominating Committee. Other Missouri chapters received numerous awards: • Delta Chi chapter at William Woods University received the 2018 National Council Trophy for small chapters as well as the Seeking the Heights Award for small chapters for chapter leadership. • Zeta Sigma chapter at Missouri State University was awarded the 2018 National Council Trophy for large chapters as well as the Seeking the Heights Award for recruitment. • Sigma Sigma, the St. Louis alumnae chapter, received the National Council Trophy for alumnae chapters. • Mu Mu, the Kansas City alumnae chapter, again received the Alumnae Chapter Continuing Excellence Award, given to previous winners of the National Council Trophy for alumnae chapters. The 2020 Convention is scheduled for Baltimore.
