Page 3 S A E K evin Dolen '91 came to Purdue without knowing anybody. Upon moving to Indiana from South Dakota, he thought it best to go Greek and make some connections. When he first vis- ited SAE's house, he didn't get the best impression and initially thought of looking elsewhere. But in watching the members in- teract with each other and seeing how excited they were about the brotherhood changed his perception of the chapter and ultimately swayed his opinion. "I wasn't very impressed with the condition of the house," Kevin said, "but seeing how passionate everyone was about SAE is what made me fall in love with the brotherhood, and made me appreciate the house even more. It's that passion that has led to the success of our Tradition of Excellence campaign. The alumni who have stepped forward to lend their support know the importance of a physical structure to the longevity of our chapter. In my instance, the condition of the house alone would have made me consider other options. This project will guarantee that won't be the case any longer." Kevin expects SAE to remain one of Purdue's top fraternities for years to come, and the new house will only guarantee they stay among the best of the best. As he currently serves on the Province and House Board, Kevin has observed the members over the last 12 years, and is proud of what they have achieved, hoping that they apply the skills they have learned to successful careers out- side of college. "It's important for us as brothers to remember the importance of our time at Indiana Beta and the alumni who supported us. Now that we're alumni we need to give back as well." Kevin and his wife, Julie, live in Indianapolis and have two daugh- ters, Katie and Kylene. He is a vice president at Ameriprise Fi- nancial, owns of a chain of comic book stores with SAE brother Michael "Rudy" Costello '91, and is in the process of renovating a bar with brother Rob Odendahl '89, which they hope to open this fall.
