As we look forward to another incredible year, we reflect on the spring 2018 semester. Our Chapter maintains high expectations for academic performance individually, and from the Chapter as a whole. We were successful in both respects this past year. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Kappa Delta is now academically ranked sixth out of the 17 Panhellenic chapters at FSU with a 3.38 GPA. This ranks us above the all-sorority GPA, all-female GPA, and all- Greek GPA. Our Chapter continues to uphold high expectations for members' academic excellence, to prioritize philanthropic endeavors, and to develop professionalism. INCREASED PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS Throughout the semester, Kappa Delta members hosted and participated in multiple activities on campus, including ΚΔ Big Hug, Dance Marathon at FSU, a Girl Scout cookie sales event, You Make Me Smile, and Confidence Is Key. We also had an opportunity to combine our two Confidence Coalition events. On campus, we passed out our signature blue balloons with positive memos such as "You are beautiful," "Have a wonderful day," and "You are loved," and ended the event at the Chapter House with confidence-building activities, compliment cookies, and lemonade. It was a fun event for sisters and participants alike! In honor of National Hugging Day, the Kappa Alpha Chapter hosted "ΚΔ Big Hug," an event where some of our sisters joined together for a group hug to support Kappa Delta alumna Kari Wagner (Epsilon Omega) and others' efforts to help set a Guinness World Record for the largest group hug! Kappa Delta at Florida State University prioritizes philanthropic service to the community through our support of Prevent Child Abuse America, the Girl Scouts of America, and the local Children's Home Society of Tallahassee. In April 2018, our sisters came together for Color Me ΚΔ Run, planned by Vice President of Community Service Sabrina Janeiro '16. ΚΔ sisters facilitate the event by tossing colored powder and cheering on participants to the finish. The event raised over $21,000 for the Children's Home Society of Tallahassee. Additionally, we hosted our local troop of the Girl Scouts to help them with their annual Girl Scout cookie sales. We helped them sell their cookies outside of our Kappa Delta Chapter House and promoted the event via social media. We hosted two social events, Flamingo Flock and the White Rose Formal. Flamingo Flock took place at the Dogwood House where sisters danced to live music and enjoyed barbecue, s'mores, and much more! White roses and pearls adorned the venue for our White Rose Formal, where the ΚΔ ladies and their dates ate delicious hors d'oeuvres while enjoying great music. I have been honored to oversee the workings of our Chapter. Having led phenomenal ΚΔ women since December 2017, I look forward to a very active, successful, and exciting fall 2018 semester. In Love and AOT, Sarah Manning '15 Chapter President scm14g@my.fsu.edu Marathon is a very important organization to many of our sisters; these philanthropic young women were morale captains for the event this year. This PC '17 group had a blast at their first Color Me ΚΔ event!
