That's because many are already gear- ing up for the joyous, impending, and oh-so-important fourth quarter of sales. The typical summer slowdown in retail—unless you reside in a resort location—can be the perfect time to regroup, refocus, and strategize for the busy season ahead. In this issue we start to prepare you for that period by sharing new and exciting designers and beautiful colors and trends. Share these pages with your customers to get them thinking about what they might like to earmark as holiday must-haves. The gifting season will be here before we know it, and The Jewelry Book (TJB) has plenty of mouthwatering options. TJB is also bringing back a feature (we unveiled it at our own debut) called Giving Back. It highlights those in our industry who devote time, talent, and funds to their communities, and their reasons why. We rechristen the column in this issue with a story about Manish Dhadda, one of the founders of diamond house VIBHOR, who is giving back through an organization close to his heart and his hometown in India. At a time when more consumers care about the backstory of their jewels and the reputations of those they do business with, TJB feels Giving Back articles are an ideal way to remind readers to keep meaningful actions top of mind, especially when clients want to hear about them. The 4th quarter is not only an important time for industry sales, but it is also the time to ready staffers to shine through repeated best practices. Remember, sometimes the simplest things make customers happy—from a simple 'Hello' and smile as they walk in to really listening to them so that they can fi nd that perfect gift or self-purchase. Jewelry and all of its nuances and nomenclature can easily overwhelm shoppers, so it is our job to make looking, touching, feel- ing, and trying on a design a fun experience. When we help them fi nd that special piece, they will always want to come back! TJB hopes you enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to ringing in a robust fall season with you!
