A Profile on Prosthetik Intelligentz by STEPHANIE CRIDER Prosthetik Intellgentz is a local band that prides themself on their revolution- ary sound. Up & Coming Weekly re- cently had a chance to chat with them. UCW: Who are your band members and what instru- ments they play? PI: Ezzie B plays the drums and classical piano, B Doom is our alto, baritone and tenor sax, clarinet, MPC and beatbox UCW: Give us a brief history lesson on the band. When and where did you get started? PI: We got CHARLIE MIKE’S PUB 195 Star Point Road • 826-6453 Tues. Open Jam — Bring our own instrument May 15 Open mic May 29 Open mic Ezzie B and B Doom of Prosthetik Intelligentz. started after we met at work and realized we shared a common interest in music in general, not just hip hop. UCW: How did the band get its name? PI: The band got its name from the root of both words. Prosthetic means a device (our music), either external or implanted, that substitutes for or supple- ments a missing or defective part of the body(the current state of hip hop). Intelligence is an aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings etc. … and the spelling just for GP. UCW: How would you define your music? PI: We would describe our music as revolutionary, in the manner of how it fuses genres that before were never allowed to even touch to completely mesh. Definitely not what’s being played on the radio, but should be in our opinion. UCW: Who are your favorite bands/influences on your music? PI: Little Brother, Jay Electronica, Mos Def, J Dilla (R.I.P.), 9TH Wonder and many others. UCW: Do you write your own music and where does that inspiration come from? PI: We write our own music and inspiration can be found anywhere … but mostly right in front of us. UCW: If you only had two words to describe your band what would they be? PI: Two words to describe our band would be extremely humble because all of this was totally unexpected and we’re truly greatful for everything UCW: What are your hopes/goals for the future of your band? PI: Hopes and goals is to have someone come up to us and tell us that one of our songs encouraged them to have a good day or workout or to even do the right thing. Making a positive impact on hip hop. UCW: Where do you see the band five years, 10 years from now? PI: Five to 10 years from now I see the band still doing wonderful things for the world of music as a whole, not just hip hop or rap, literally tran- scending genres. UCW: Where can Fayetteville music lovers check you in the near future? PI: For now we can be found on Last.fm, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and Looperman.com until we get booked for some shows that is!!
