They often work directly under the supervision of an RN, or registered nurse. The CAN is responsible for direct patient care and personal needs. They are sometimes referred to as a home health aide, personal care assistant, nursing assistant or patient care technical. Requirements • Copy of high school diploma or GED –Submit with registration form • Agreement to submit to a drug screening and criminal background check before clinical experience Class Information • Daytime CNA classes • Refresher CNA classes • Offered several times a year • Maximum of 20 students per class
