New Scholarship Honors Priorities of God, Family, and Country (Continued from page 2) T here's no doubt that Maranatha has made a large impact on the lives of Jeanne Marmon and her family. Beginning with her own years as a student and extending into her daughters' educations, MCA has been a constant in the Marmon household. In fact, Jeanne's first big date with her now-husband was at the MCA junior-senior banquet. "Over the past 14 years, we have attended countless award ceremonies, sporting, music, and drama events, helped with elementary class parties, joined in on field trips, hosted high school class and dance parties, and have formed some of our deepest friendships," she said. "MCA has truly become an extension of our own family." Jeanne and James' daughters have attended MCA since first grade. Their oldest, Natalie, is now a sophomore at Biola University in California, and their youngest, Alayna, recently graduated and plans to attend John Brown University in the fall. "We desired for our girls to be surrounded by a community of believers," Jeanne said. "Not perfect people, but like- minded individuals who would partner with us in raising Godly girls." Since her own years as a student, Jeanne has seen changes at MCA, including the implementation of dances (hence why she brought James to a banquet instead of prom). She's happy to see MCA students having a blast at dances, after-parties, and get-togethers and loves the safe environment and pure fun these new events provide. To stay involved with the Maranatha community, the Marmons have dedicated their time to volunteering for the school. "Volunteering has allowed me the chance to get to know many of the teachers and staff beyond just a teacher conference," Jeanne said. "I've gotten to know amazing parents in and beyond our daughters' grades. By getting involved, you find that Maranatha is an amazing community and there's a place for every parent." With their youngest graduating this year, Jeanne and James have had a tough time imagining life without the regularity of MCA. "It's a chapter in our life we will no doubt miss, but are so very grateful to have chosen MCA for our girls. They wouldn't be the same well-rounded, Godly, young women they are today—ready to tackle the real world with their solid, rooted foundation in God's word, had we not partnered with the MCA community." The couple can't help but wonder if they'll have grandchildren at MCA to carry on the tradition one day. The Marmon family lives in Lenexa and can be reached at jeannemarmon@gmail.com.
