Tito's Vodka, started by Tito Beveridge, is now one of the more successful microdistilleries in existence. Tito's Vodka is distilled from corn (making it naturally gluten-free) and is the winner of multiple awards, including unanimous winner, double gold at the San Francisco World Spirit Championship, Distillery of the Year from Beverage World and four stars from the Spirit Journal. Tito's story is one of true inventiveness and determination. Tito originally started with flavored vodka as gifts to friends. Upon an offhand comment, he took his vodka to liquor stores in his area but was turned down. Alternatively, liquor store owners and managers suggested he make a straight, smooth, drinkable vodka. Through his tireless research, Tito uncovered a bunch of pictures of old moonshiners and prohibition-era busts and used that as his foundation. He kept messing with the still and the recipe until he found a process and a recipe his friends liked. It took about eight more years until Tito's Vodka found its legs as Tito had to deal with legal battles and introduction to the market. True to its 1990's roots, Tito's Vodka still makes its vodka in batches, uses old-fashioned pot stills, and tastes-tests every batch to ensure the best. Tito's Vodka is certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten Intolerance Group. Whereas some vodka brands add a bit of mash back into the spirit after distillation, which could add gluten, Tito's doesn't do that.
