Special to NWa Democrat-Gazette
The Fayetteville Senior Activity and Wellness Center operates the Meals on
Wheels Program for Fayetteville. Meals on Wheels is an extremely important
program that combats senior hunger by providing meals for homebound seniors.
This program would not be possible without the generosity of Fayetteville
citizens who contribute both their
time and their finances.
Every month, over 40 different
volunteers from the Fayetteville
community load trucks, vans, and
cars to help deliver over 7,500 meals
to those in need in Fayetteville.
There are eight meal routes running
every day that each provide 20-30
home-delivered meals. Of those
eight routes, six are operated
entirely by volunteers. The number
of homebound seniors is constantly
growing, so new volunteers are always needed.
To learn more about volunteer opportunities, please call our office at
(479) 571-2920, or stop by between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through
Friday, at 945 S. College. As a non-profit organization, we also rely heavily
on donations to help cover our expenses. Over half of our funding comes
from grants, donations, and the generosity of businesses and individuals in the
NWA community. Your donation of just $10 helps to provide two meals for
homebound seniors. Fayetteville is a wonderful and generous place to live.
Please consider donating your time or financial resources to the Fayetteville
Meals on Wheels Program. Help us help homebound seniors in Fayetteville.
